Images of the Messiah

For the month of November, we'll be preaching in the topic area known as Biblical Theology. That's a technical field of scholarship that looks at themes of Christ throughout all Scripture. Some people refer to the Messianic references as a "scarlet thread" that runs throughout Scripture. There are tons of great passages prophetically pointing to the Messiah before he appeared. "The Old Testament, written over a period of a 1,000 years contains more than 300 references to Christ, recorded hundreds of years before his birth" (Josh McDowell). We'll look at four images of the Messiah: 1) Descendent of Eve, 2) Seed of Abraham, 3) Prophet like Moses, and 4) Priest/King like Melchizedek.
