Hospitality and Invitation

January 12, 2020 Speaker: Mike McDonald Series: Sent for the Sake of Others

Topic: Sent for the Sake of Others Passage: Luke 16:1–13

VISION SUNDAY

Listen as our Senior Pastor, Mike McDonald, addresses the congregation with an update on the year-end strength of the church and where he thinks the Lord is leading us in the coming year.  The message looks first at Luke 16, the Parable of the Dishonest Manager.  The Lord expects us to be shrewd with the use of his wealth, all the while expecting a future day of accounting before God.  The theme of “abundance for others” will continue to guide our ministries into 2020.  Mike shares some year-end numbers regarding giving and average attendance, both of which increased.  He also mentions the funding for our first church plant.

The message then looks at 2 Corinthians 4, in which the Apostle Paul explains why he does not lose heart doing ministry in a tough cultural setting.  Mike shares statistics on the spiritual scene in America from a 2019 survey of “unchurched” Americans, which was published in the book “You Found Me” by Rick Richardson.  The unchurched are far more open to the gospel than many Christians think.

The leading edge of spiritual maturity for Grace Anglican Church is happening through the Alpha Course.  Many of our members are learning two important approaches to those who are not yet members: HOSPITALITY AND INVITATION.  We are growing as a church that extends a warm welcome to those who visit our church.  We are growing in boldness to invite people to come and see what we have in Christ.  For 2020, “abundance for others” will be seen in how we invite outsiders and welcome them when they arrive.
