Habits of Readiness

"Christ will come again." This phrase from the Memorial Acclamation should both excite and frighten people. For those who know how good our Lord is, the thought of his return brings excitement. For others, the thought is less than pleasant. Thankfully, the Good News of Scripture gives us lots of instructions of how to be ready and excited for Christ's return. Salvation belongs to our God. It is by grace that we are saved. And it is also a work of grace that we are sanctified. Our Lord expects his people to continue growing in his grace. This is where habits of readiness are essential. The four weeks of Advent are all about readiness for our Lord's coming, in celebration of his first coming and expectation of his second coming.
