Daniel: God's Sovereignty in Challenging Times

The prophet Daniel lived in highly turbulent times, even more so than we are experiencing during this pandemic. He was exiled from his homeland as a teenager and lived out his entire adult life in a foreign culture. It is an understatement to say that his lifestyle was interrupted. The Babylonians changed his name, his language, his clothing, his food and his responsibilities and many other things. They tried to change his God. However, his faith prevailed despite direct persecution and turbulent political upheaval. The biblical book he wrote is about more than a lion’s den, it attests to God's sovereignty through all of it, and also gives some examples of remaining faithful to God while a citizen of an idolatrous society. His apocalyptic visions, which were recognized and referenced directly by Jesus (Mat. 24:15), help reassure readers that God is ultimately in charge of human history and God's kingdom will prevail. There are many points of connection between Daniel’s experiences and the struggles of today. Join us on Sundays as we explore this frequently misunderstood book of the Bible. For this 8-week study, we invite you to jump into a 2020 Group to discuss the weekly sermon topic in a smaller setting. Visit www.graceanglican.church/daniel to learn more about 2020 Groups.
