Sermon on the Mount

The Sermon on the Mount describes the new kind of life that Jesus both made available for believers and also expects his followers to pursue. Some have said it’s impossible to live out, but Jesus expects us to build our lives on it and even begins his Sermon by calling it a “blessed” life (Mat. 5:3). Furthermore, he promises that a life built on his word will be able to withstand the storms of life that wipeout others. The Sermon on the Mount is arguably the most concise teaching he gave. It's a tall order to climb this Mount and we need guidance. This summer preaching sequence will walk us through the Sermon section by section. May we all be as astonished at the authority of his teaching as the first hearers were (Mat. 7:28). Additional Resources for this Series: Looking to go deeper into this topic? The following recommended books provide further insight into the Sermon on the Mount. "The Sermon on the Mount" by Sinclair Ferguson and "The Cost of Discipleship" by Dietrich Bonehoeffer
