First Time To Grace Anglican?
Plan A Sunday Visit
Worship at Grace Anglican Church is a family affair. Our weekly gathering is a foundational part of our life together as a community of believers in Jesus Christ. Regardless of which service you choose to attend, you will find a welcoming community of people committed to loving each other and following Jesus together. Worship is the primary time in which we as a community can together hear God’s Word proclaimed and taught, receive nourishment in the sacrament of Holy Communion, and offer to God our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all that he has done and continues to do.
Here's What To Expect:
Worship
You might be wondering, what is Anglicanism? As an Anglican Church, our worship is ordered by the Book of Common Prayer. This style of worship intentionally weaves together three strands into a strong cord that form us to be more like Christ:
- SCRIPTURES
- SACRAMENTS
- SPIRIT
Our Sunday gatherings offer a unique style of worship that blends traditional and contemporary music, prayer, and biblical teaching in the framework of our rich Anglican liturgy and history. Our gatherings follow a worship pattern (listed below) that is found throughout Scripture and is designed to engage our hearts, minds, and actions, intentionally shaping us for life in God’s presence. More details on below can also be found on our Guide to Worship page.
- GATHERING
We ready our hearts for worship by expressing our praise, love, and devotion to our Lord. We come together expecting to encounter the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit through worship.
-
WORD
We hear from God through the reading and preaching of Scripture. -
RESPONSE
Anytime God speaks to us through his Word, he invites us to respond to him in several different ways. We respond by: professing our faith through the Nicene Creed, praying together, confessing our sins, offering our resources, and celebrating communion. -
SENDING
The final part of the service ends with a commission as we are sent out into the world to be the hands and feet of Jesus, sharing the good news of his gospel in our various spheres of influence. During this portion of the service we hear announcements about the life of the church and opportunities to serve those in need in our community.
Want to know more about what our services are like? We encourage you to visit our Guide to Worship page, watch a previous service, or learn more about this upcoming Sunday here. Christ-Centered Teaching
We are a church that firmly believes the Bible is God’s Word and is authoritative in our lives. Through the Word, we are reminded of who God is, who we are, what God has done for us, and how we can live our everyday lives in light of our renewed relationship with God and the world. In the words of the Apostle Paul, "We preach Christ and him crucified." We focus on the Cross of Christ and a message of his saving grace. We need to hear of his work for us, not a moralistic message of trying harder.
Service Length
Each service lasts about 75 minutes.
Children's Ministry
Children's programs on Sunday mornings (for Nursery - Kindergarten) are held in the Administrative Building (located next to the Sanctuary). Kindergarten - 6th grade remain in the service. During the sermon time, they will have a special children's sermon in our narthex (church lobby). When the adult sermon ends, they will come back to their family’s pew. At the end of the service, everyone will be given a discussion question related to the preaching text as a way of encouraging further discussion and reflection for families or for individuals.
