Worship Pastor Opening
Grace Anglican Church is seeking our next Worship Pastor. After years of steady part-time musical leadership, we have grown to need a full-time person in this role. The Worship Pastor would be the principal musician leading the music teams and congregation in worship. He/she would be working closely with our Senior Pastor to plan and lead worship services that inspire God’s people to live into his vision for them. Grace has grown to an average Sunday attendance of 540 people, gathering in 3 Sunday services. We value families, intergenerational worship and relational outreach. As an Anglican Church, Grace appreciates the formative power of blending Christ-centered preaching, an openness to the Holy Spirit and weekly participation in the Sacrament of Communion. In short, the Scriptures, the Spirit and the Sacrament are three strands woven together in our worship.
Worship at Grace is an extraordinary experience. The liturgy is given life and vitality from the music. Our three services are unique in style (contemplative, traditional, contemporary), but each service carries with it a remnant of the others. From the enduring sound of the organ to high energy of a drum set, the church sings unified. We have timpani’s and telecaster, hand bells and Nord’s – there is an appreciation of things old and new. In addition to a rich hymnody, we value and commission original songs, and many of the modern anthems of the day. You would be brining your unique voice into that mix.
Our Staff culture embraces emotional health through self-awareness and transformation in community. You will be encouraged to discover your unique giftedness and grow into your calling both in and outside of the work of the ministry. Our core team leaders are talented and ambitious, but cautious of over-functioning. We do our best to live in the tension of ambition to advance God’s kingdom along with the “easy yoke” Jesus offers.
We Love Our City! Many of us (most of us) are transplants here. Fleming Island is a growing suburb of Jacksonville, Florida and it’s an amazing place to live. It is situated along the St. Johns River and is surrounded by the beautiful tidal waters of the river and Doctor’s Lake. About 30,000 people live on Fleming Island, which is the northeast corner of the ~200,000 population Clay County. The county is rapidly developing with new homes and businesses and a new beltway with six interchanges in the county called the First Coast Expressway. The public schools are A-rated, the weather is beautiful, and the cost of living is significantly lower than the national average. Downtown Jacksonville is a mere 30 minutes to the north, the beaches are 40 minutes to the east and historic St. Augustine is 50 minutes to the south.
We welcome candidates from any Christian tradition. Many find a home in Anglicanism from other traditions. A competitive compensation package includes a livable salary, full-family healthcare, and 3 weeks paid vacation, plus a worship ministry budget that will hopefully grow under the Worship Pastor’s good leadership. Interested candidates are encouraged to peruse the church website, paying particular attention to the Discipleship Pathway and Vision/Values diagram. Please contact our Senior Pastor, Mike McDonald, with a bit of your story and why you are interested in this job.
